Shelley's 5 Favourite Things This Summer

If you've been following Marmalade for a while, you've probably seen a lot more of my business partner, Shannon-May, than me (Shelley). She's the creative genius behind so much of what you see in the shop, while I'm usually the one happily hiding behind spreadsheets.

But one thing we absolutely love doing together is choosing the products that fill our shelves. It's our favourite part of owning Marmalade—discovering talented Maritime makers, meeting artists, and finding pieces we'd be genuinely excited to take home ourselves.

I still have moments where I pinch myself that I get to be part-owner of a beautiful little boutique in such a special place. Every season I end up with a handful of favourites that I can't stop talking about, so I thought it would be fun to share five of them with you.

In no particular order, here are five things I'm loving in the shop this summer:

Linko Pottery Lavender Mugs

I keep telling myself I don't need another pottery mug... and then we bring in something like these beautiful lavender mugs from Linko Pottery. My cupboard is officially overflowing, but I have zero regrets! These are just our newest Linko addition this season, but we have all the favourites, including her very popular heart-shaped and lupin mugs.

Atlantic Mustard Chardonnay Charcuterie Mustard

Summer is grazing-board season, and if you've ever spent an afternoon slowly picking away at a board with friends on the deck, you know exactly what I mean. This mustard is rich, tangy, and pairs beautifully with cheeses, crackers, and cured meats. I always keep a jar of Atlantic Mustard on hand, and this one is coming with me on vacation. Sand Clementine Earrings

I don't know how she does it, but every pair of Clementine earrings is stunning. These earrings are handcrafted by our very own Shannon-May Pringle, and choosing just one pair is so hard! One of my favourites is the Sand Clementine Studs, which contain sand from St. Andrews, so you can carry a little piece of our beautiful town wherever you go.

Caley Joy Perfume

Truthfully, I don’t usually wear perfume. Most fragrances are just too strong or too “perfumey” for me. But Caley Joy has completely changed my mind. The scents are soft, fresh, and beautifully natural without that overpowering, chemical smell. My personal favourite is Wild Daisy, but I highly recommend sampling them all. They’ve been one of our best-selling collections this summer.

If you've visited the shop recently, you've probably noticed these incredible botanical pieces. The hummingbird and the cat are my personal favourites. Each piece is a photographic replica of an original piece created from real pressed flowers, and the level of detail is simply remarkable.

Honourable Mention: Mini Tipi Reversible Blankets

You probably knew these would make an appearance. They didn't crack my Top 5 simply because I've been talking about them since the day we opened! I own one myself, and I reach for it all the time—whether it's evening drinks on the patio, curling up by the fire, or adding a little extra coziness to a cool Maritime night. My personal favourite has always been the Aurora pattern.

These are the kinds of pieces that remind me why I love filling Marmalade with the work of incredibly talented local Maritime makers and Women-led brands. Perhaps those who can't create... become enthusiastic collectors! 😊
