What began with a single jar of seawater and a curious spirit has grown into a beloved, family-run sea salt company on the South Shore of Nova Scotia. Inspired by a study-abroad trip to England in 2011, founder Rebecca Wilson fell in love with the idea of bringing beautifully crafted sea salt to home kitchens back in Canada. By 2018, she had simmered her very first batch of sea salt in the family kitchen—and just like that, South Shore Sea Salt was born.
Since those early days of selling out weekly at the local Farmers’ Market, the business has blossomed into a full-time, year-round operation lovingly run by Rebecca’s mother, Marsha, and her brother, Andrew. Together, this mother-son team pours their hearts into every step—from seawater collection to packaging—right on their family homestead in Hubbards, Lunenburg County.
With a focus on quality, sustainability, and small-batch care, South Shore Sea Salt offers pure, hand-harvested sea salts and flavourful blends that bring the taste of the Atlantic to your table. It’s a true family affair—and a labour of love.
