About the design:

The artist, Tsista Kennedy drew inspiration from the Onyota’a:ka side of his identity, inherited through his father’s lineage, for the creation of this blanket. His design features the Dust Fan Wampum Belt, Skydomes, and iconographic representations of people standing hand-in-hand. At the centre stands the Dust Fan Wampum Belt, also known as the Everlasting Tree Belt, symbolizing the Tree of Peace and the enduring unity of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy. The Skydomes represent the Skyworld from the Creation Story, the origin of life. Along the outermost rows, figures standing hand-in-hand reflect the ongoing commitment to the Great Law of Peace and the importance of maintaining connection to spirit and ceremony.

Tsista named the blanket “Unity,” with the hope that it will educate and inspire, offering a vision of a world where peace, unity, and deep connection to both the natural and spirit worlds are upheld by the good minds of all people.
